The Legislature is considering allowing the Hawaii Health Systems Corp. to have its hospitals privatize in the hopes of reducing deficits in running the public hospitals, including Maui Memorial Medical Center. Are you:

  1. In support of the measures
  2. In opposition to the measure
  3. Not sure

I would like to read the legislation first, but from what I've read about the situation so far it seems like we don't really have a choice in the matter. Unless employees are willing to take a major pay and benefits cut, where is the money going to come from?

Maybe the Legislature should take a look at the mismanagement of funds that have occurred under the present leadership at MMMC. Millions wasted on pet projects and unnessecary consultants that have had no benefit. Continual creations of new management positions for friends that serve no purpose and failure to utilize what's already in place wastes hundreds of thousands each month. We can only hope a parternship will curb the corruption!
