Lahainaluna produces seven boys champions

The Lahainaluna High School boys wrestling team had the top three finishers at 145 pounds and the top two at 215, plus champions in five other divisions, in Saturday’s Maui Interscholastic League tournament at the King Kekaulike gym in Pukalani.

Molokai and Baldwin each had three girls champions.

Bubba Jaramillo led the Lunas’ sweep of first through third places at 145. He defeated Wyatt Chism for the title, and Reilly Pasion finished third. Hercules Mataafa was first and Connor Mowat second at 215.

The Lunas’ Gary Long (114), Mark Alamon (125), Robert Campos (135), Giovani Perez (160) and Thomas Rosen-St. John (152) also took titles.

The other champions were Baldwin’s Reggie Lo (120), Danny Welds-Ebanks (189) and Pita Tuliau (285), King Kekaulike’s Curtis Palmeira (130) and Keegan Gregg (140), and Maui High’s Charles Johnston Jr. (171).

Baldwin’s champions were Taylor Rabara (130), Hailey Namauu (175) and Sydney Ibarra (220). Molokai’s were Sierra Pico (121), Rizpah Torres-Umi (125) and Kailaoea Cabating (109).

Norlyn Cabonce was the 113 champion, and Lanai teammate Megan Amby won at 155. Maui High’s Ann Marie Andres (101) and Lahainaluna’s Carly Jaramillo (140) finished first as well.
