MIL wrestling: Lunas wrestlers pin down 14 division titles

The Lahainaluna High School boys and girls wrestling teams dominated a Maui Interscholastic?League round robin tournament on Saturday at the Maui High gym in Kahului.

The Lunas boys won nine of the 13 weight divisions, while the girls took five of nine.

Boys champions from Lahainaluna were Christian Balagso (114), Gary Long (120), Mark Alamon (125), Robert Campos (135), Harry Jaramillo (140), Giovanni Perez (160), Joshua Coston (189), Connor Mowat (215) and Hercules Mataafa (285).

King Kekaulike had two boys champions: Curtis Palmeira (130) and Kalei Cabanting (145).

Kamehameha Maui’s Andrew Kahalewai (152) and Maui High’s Kalikiano Carson (171) won their divisions.

Girls champions from Lahainaluna were Amber Kaaihue Falahee (93), Diamond Freitas (103), Precious Jaramillo (125), Carly Jaramillo (140) and Lalelei Mataafa (220).

Lanai and Baldwin each had two champions.

Traci Ige (117) and Megan Amby (155) won for the Pine Lasses.

Taylor Rabara (130) and Hailey Namauu (175) won for the Bears.
