Baldwin topples Kapolei at state D-I tournament

Teva Eldredge had 16 points and six rebounds and Kody Takushi and Ryan Garces each added 11 points as Baldwin beat Kapolei 57-43 in the first round of the Hawaiian Airlines Boys Basketball Division I State Championships on Wednesday at McKinley High School.

Baldwin (11-4) will play No. 1 seed Maryknoll in the quarterfinals tonight at 7 at McKinley.

Christopher Dillard had 19 points for Kapolei (12-2), which will play Moanalua in a consolation game today at 3 p.m. at McKinley.

No. 3 seed King Kekaulike will play today in a quarterfinal against Punahou (9-4), which beat Farrington (10-6) 68-60.

The eight-team Division II tournament starts today with No. 3 seed Seabury Hall playing University at 5 p.m. at Kalani High School.
