Rainbow Wahine enter tie atop Big West

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team entered a tie for first place in the Big West standings by defeating Pacific 74-71 on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 17 points off the bench for the Rainbow Wahine (13-11, 9-4 Big West), who have won five of their last seven games. Kuehu also had eight rebounds.

Kamilah Martin added 16 points and 12 rebounds for UH, Ashleigh Karaitiana scored 11 points and Monica DeAngelis had 10. Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had six points and five rebounds.

The Tigers (19-6, 9-4) got 22 points from Gena Johnson.

Hawaii is to play at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday.
