Baldwin beats Kamehameha in league water polo opener

Deme Deshayne scored four goals and Jazmine Harmon had three as the Baldwin High School water polo team defeated Kamehameha Maui 14-7 on Wednesday at the Warriors’ pool in Pukalani in the first match of the Maui Interscholastic League season.

Christina Patao-Torres and Alea Weber each scored twice for the Bears, who went unbeaten in Maui Interscholastic League play last season. Katrina Mooers, last year’s MIL Player of the Year, had 11 saves, including one on a penalty shot.

Baldwin led 10-3 at halftime.

Leimana Hassett had four goals for the Warriors, all in the fourth quarter.
