Elftman-Hanson’s 33 helps Bears improve to 8-0
Ariel Elftman-Hanson posted the lowest score of this year’s Maui Interscholastic League boys golf season, a 33 at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku, and Baldwin High School set up a potential showdown of undefeated teams next week by beating Kamehameha Maui 150-188 on Friday.
Jameson Keiley had a 37, Tyler Munetake a 38 and Nathaniel Idic a 42 for the Bears (8-0), who took a half-game lead on Lahainaluna in the MIL standings. The Lunas play Seabury Hall on Monday at The Dunes at Maui Lani before matches with Baldwin on Wednesday and March 29, the final two days of the regular season – the first meeting is scheduled for Kahili, the second for Kaanapali.
Baldwin’s Justin Ohta carded a 43 on Friday. Nonscoring alternates Matt Vanni and Jordan Hinau each shot 41.
Lucas Park had a 39 for the Warriors (1-7), Jacob Puu had a 41 and Kalei Stanich and Kainalu Steward both had rounds of 54.
* KING KEKAULIKE 196, MAUI HIGH 204: At Puka-lani Country Club, Drake Onaga’s 37 helped King Kekau-like (3-5) take sole possession of third place.
Na Alii’s Branden Castro shot 41, A.J. Ramelb carded a 55 and Micha Hanawahine had a 63.
Chase Baker (45) was the low scorer for Maui High (2-6). Marvyn Guillermo had a 51, Ian Bingham a 52, Ross Takemoto a 56 and Menard Guillermo a 68.
