King Kekaulike improves to 5-0
The King Kekaulike High School boys tennis team swept doubles play, with two wins by default, in a 3-2 victory over Baldwin on Wednesday at Pukalani, and maintained its unbeaten Maui Interscholastic League record.
In the lone contested doubles match, at No. 2, Dillon Koga and Ray Tengan defeated Ethan Gazman and Riley Caldwell 6-2, 6-3, helping Na Alii improve to 5-0.
The Bears fell to 2-2.
* SEABURY HALL BOYS 3, KAMEHAMEHA MAUI 2: At Kula, Matthew Lugo won a third-set tie-breaker for the decisive team point, and Seabury Hall evened its record at 2-2.
Lugo defeated Kona Dancil 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (1) in the No. 2 singles match. Kamehameha Maui fell to 1-4.
* BALDWIN GIRLS 3, KING KEKAULIKE 2: At Pukalani, Baldwin (2-2) won a pair of singles matches in straight sets.
The Bears’ Tayler Duarte defeated Micheala Thompson 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, and Jessica Pressman was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Kisa Geibink.
King Kekaulike (3-2) had won three matches in a row since a season-opening loss to Baldwin.
* KAMEHAMEHA MAUI GIRLS 5, SEABURY HALL 0: At Kula, Kamehameha Maui (4-1) won every set, losing a total of just 12 games.
Shanise Kaaikala won at love at No. 3 singles in her match with Anna Ezzy of Seabury Hall (1-3).
