MIL golf: Balanced effort helps Lunas improve to 7-0
The Lahainaluna High School boys golf team had all four of its scoring players post rounds of 40 or better on Friday in a 154-221 win over Kamehameha Maui in a Maui Interscholastic League match at the Kaanapali Kai Course.
Rhett Wiseman led the way with a 37 as the Lunas (7-0) took a half-game lead in the MIL standings over unbeaten Baldwin. Kerek Franz had a 38 for Lahainaluna, Jake Horton had a 39 and Malu Rosenthal had a 40. Tristan Villa carded a 42. The Lunas’ alternates were Lance Ito (38) and Laka Rosenthal (52).
The Lunas will be idle until a March 25 meeting with Seabury Hall, then will face the Bears on the last two days of the regular season.
Lucas Park had a 41 for the Warriors (1-5), Jacob Pu’u a 47, Kainalu Steward a 66 and Kalei Stanic a 67.
* MAUI HIGH BOYS 186, SEABURY HALL 207: At The Dunes at Maui Lani in Kahului, Zach Taylor shot 38 as Maui High improved to 2-4.
The Sabers’ other golfers were Chase Baker (47), Ross Takemoto (49) and Ian Bingham (52).
Dawud Moragne had a 47 for Seabury Hall (2-5), Aron Graziano and Reyn Stisher each shot 48, Max Hurd carded a 64 and Justin Medeiros had a 70.
* BALDWIN 156, KING KEKAULIKE 201 (THURSDAY): At Pukalani Country Club, Tyler Munetake shot 35 for Baldwin (6-0), Jameson Keiley had a 39, Ariel Hanson had a 40, Keanu Chang a 42 and Nathaniel Idica 44.
Drake Onaga’s 37 was the leading score for King Kekaulike (1-5). Branden Castro (46), A.J. Ramelb (56) and Micha Hanawahine (62) were Na Alii’s other golfers.
