MIL volleyball: Dragons win opener in four

Noah Feliciano-Hoopai had nine kills and three blocks, and the Hana High School boys volleyball team began its Maui Interscholastic League season with a 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21 home win over Kamehameha Maui on Friday.

The Dragons’ Jordan Redo Rost had 25 assists and three aces, and Isaiah Pu Akima and Makena Keiley each had four blocks.

Statistics for Kamehameha Maui (0-1) were not available.

* LANAI 3, LAHAINALUNA 1: At Lanai City, the Pine Lads won 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18.

The match was the first of the season for both Lanai and Lahainaluna.

* BALDWIN 3, MOLOKAI 2: At Kaunakakai, Trent Helle had 11 kills for Baldwin (1-0), which became the first MIL Division I team to defeat a Division II opponent this season with a 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-12 win.

The league’s D-I teams are 1-4 against D-II.

Molokai (0-1) got 22 kills from Dhavin Spencer-Basa.
