Baldwin finishes regular season on 10-match winning streak

The Baldwin High School boys volleyball team finished its regular season with a 10th consecutive victory on Thursday, defeating King Kekaulike 26-28, 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 at the Bears’ gym in Wailuku.

Ryan Garces had nine kills for the Bears (11-1), who had already secured the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season championship, and Brad Bowlin had eight kills and four blocks. Afoa Laga added seven kills, Niko Corpin had six kills and five aces and Kyson Kaiama had 30 assists and three aces.

Baldwin will play a league tournament semifinal Wednesday, against the winner of Tuesday’s match between Lahainaluna and King Kekaulike.

Colton Cowell had a match-high 11 kills for Na Alii (4-8). Lionel Mills added seven.

* Lahainaluna def. Maui High: At Lahaina, Lahainaluna earned its first win of the season, in five sets. Statistics were not available.

The Lunas are now 1-11.

Maui High finishes the regular season 6-6.
