Cal State Northridge topples Hawaii
The University of Hawaii baseball team lost for the ninth time in 10 games, falling 9-4 to Cal State Northridge in a Big West Conference game Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium.
Maui-born Kalei Hanawahine was 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs for the Rainbows, who had eight hits. Matt Cooper (2-5) allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.
The Matadors had 14 hits, led by Chester Pak’s 3-for-5 day that included three runs. Calvin Copping (4-3) got the win, allowing four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Hawaii (8-26, 3-8 Big West) finishes its three-game set with CSUN (21-17, 7-4 Big West) today at 1:05 p.m. before Cal State Fullerton comes to town for a three-game Big West series.
