Omura pitches three-inning no-hitter
Slayde Omura pitched a three-inning no-hitter and Kaleb Palmer homered as the Seabury Hall baseball team defeated Lanai 15-0 on Thursday in the semifinals of the Maui Interscholastic League Division II tournament at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.
Palmer hit a solo homer in the first inning and finished 2-for-2. Travis Mrantz hit a two-run triple in a seven-run second for the Spartans (5-2), who must beat Molokai today in the tournament final and in an overall title game Saturday to reach the state tournament.
Lanai finishes 1-6.
* Baldwin 8, Kamehameha Maui 0: Joshua Nobriga went five innings before Patrick Turner and Micah Richardson completed the two-hit shutout, helping send Baldwin (12-1) to the Division I tournament final.
Isaiah Maddela, Noah Apolo and Aaron Victorino each had two hits for the Bears, who won the regular-season title. Apolo drove in a run and Victorino had a triple.
Baldwin will play Saturday against the winner of today’s semifinal between Maui High and King Kekaulike.
Kamehameha (4-10) had defeated Lahainaluna in Wednesday’s tournament opener.
