Bears held hitless in season-ending loss

Joen Baker entered as a relief pitcher with no outs in the first inning and did not allow a hit as Mililani High School defeated Baldwin 7-1 in five innings on Thursday in a DataHouse Division I State Softball Championship fifth-place semifinal at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium in Honolulu.

Baker took over after the Bears’ first four batters of the game drew walks off Aubree Kim. Baker escaped the jam by striking out the next three batters, and finished with six strikeouts and one walk.

Sky Ellazar walked twice and scored the lone run for third-seeded Baldwin, which fi-nishes its season 12-5.

Karly Macadangdang and Nicole Cox each hit two-run homers for the Trojans (16-2), who finished with nine hits. Baker went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
