Chargers win coin flip for berth in consolation final

The Pearl City High School baseball team won a coin flip after its game with Leilehua reached the two-hour time limit with the score 2-2 and the tiebreaker was exhausted during a Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I State Championship consolation semifinal on Friday at Maehara Stadium.

The tiebreaker is hits minus errors. Both teams had six hits and two errors.

The Chargers (11-6) will meet Iolani today in the consolation final.

Pearl City’s Sean Milan and Leilehua’s Brandon Smithe each pitched complete games.

Cody Academia and Jonah Paas each went 2-for-2 for the Mules (6-12).
