Felix wins Pac-12 pole vault title

Washington State freshman Kristine Felix, a Baldwin High School graduate, claimed the Pac-12 women’s pole vault title on Sunday in the conference championship track and field meet at Cromwell Field on the Southern California campus.

Felix’s winning height was 13 feet, 4 1/4 inches, the third-best in school history. She became the Cougars’ first women’s pole vault conference champion.

“It was a little shaky because the wait was really long because there were 21 vaulters,” Felix was quoted as saying on the Washington State athletics site. “I definitely stayed confident and relaxed and took a deep breath every time I jumped.”
