Hurricanes deal Bears first loss of season

Previously unbeaten Baldwin High School led after the first quarter but lost 10-5 to Kapolei on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Stanford Carr Development State Water Polo Championship at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex in Honolulu.

Alea Weber scored two goals for the third-seeded Bears (8-1), who led 4-2 after one period. Baldwin will play Hawaii Prep today, with the winner advancing to the fifth-place match.

Doran Bosque scored four goals for the Hurricanes (14-2), while Brooke Bosque and Lei-lani Herrera each had two.

Kapolei outscored Baldwin 6-1 in the second half.

Lahainaluna will meet Mililani today in a consolation semifinal – the winner will play Kaiser on Friday.
