Million Stars score three in ninth to beat Na Koa
Takayuki Taniguchi hit a two-run single in a three-run ninth inning as the Ishikawa Million Stars defeated Na Koa Ikaika Maui 5-2 on Thursday at Maehara Stadium.
Na Koa had trailed 2-0 after five innings, but tied the score on Brandon Gregoric’s RBI triple in the seventh and Ray Serrano’s home run – Maui’s first of the season – leading off the eighth against Syota Matsuda (1-1), who still earned the win.
Roman Martinez pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the year.
Serrano finished 2-for-4.
Chad Blackwell (0-1) went 8 1/3 innings, and was charged with five runs – two of them unearned.
Ishikawa’s Katsuaki Furuki was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and RBI.
