DeVault eliminated from junior worlds
Imaikalani DeVault of Kuau, the lone Maui competitor remaining in the International Surfing Association’s World Junior Championship, was eliminated on Saturday with a third-place finish in his boys 16 repercharge heat at Jiquiliste Beach in Nicaragua.
DeVault had a score of 7.63. Australia’s Kai Hing (11.36) and Japan’s Reo Inaba (10.83) advanced.
Australia took over the top spot in the team standings, with 26,410 points. Hawaii was second with 24,088.
