Error-prone Na Koa lose 6-5 to Lumberjacks
Third baseman Chema Sanchez committed three errors and Na Koa Ikaika Maui allowed four unearned runs in a 6-5 loss to the East Bay Lumberjacks on Friday at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.
Two of Sanchez’s errors were in the first inning, before Demetrius Adams hit a grand slam -all of those runs were unearned.
Jimmy Rohan drove in three runs for Maui, which fell into second place in the Pacific Association standings, a half-game behind the San Rafael Pacifics.
Na Koa scored twice in the bottom of the ninth, but Ray Serrano was retired on a game-ending fly ball to center field with two runners on base. Serrano, who began the day with a 10-game hitting streak, finished 0-for-5.
