Na Koa narrowly avoid no-hitter in loss to Stars

Courtney Arruda came within one out of a no-hitter as the Hawaii Stars beat Na Koa Ikaika Maui 8-2 in a Pacific Association game Sunday at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Ray Serrano broke up the no-

hitter with an RBI single. Arruda

(1-2) retired the first 16 batters he faced, before a walk to Nick Valdez.

Chad Blackwell (1-3) was the losing pitcher.

Katsuaki Furuki hit a bases-loaded triple for the Stars and finished 2-for-4. Brendan Davis had a solo homer.

The teams finished with a split of their six-game series on Maui, after Na Koa won all six meetings the previous week on the Big Island.
