Na Koa rally from five down to beat Stars
Every player in Na Koa Ikaika’s starting lineup reached base and either drove in or scored at least one run as Maui rallied from a five-run deficit and defeated the Hawaii Stars 11-8 on Thursday in a Pacific Association game at Wong Stadium in Hilo.
Waylen Sing-Chow was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for Na Koa, which trailed 7-2 after four innings. Evan Frazar drove in three runs and Maui High School graduate Kalaiaka Kahoohalahala drove in two.
Maui scored four runs in the fifth on just two hits, one of them an infield single, helped by two walks, two hit batters and an error. Frazar hit a two-run single for the final runs of a five-run rally in the sixth that also included two more hit batters and another pair of walks.
Hawaii pitchers hit six batters altogether.
Josh Larson (3-0), the third of seven Na Koa pitchers, earned the win. Chris Mobley pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save.
Courtney Arruda (0-2) took the loss.
