Yoshida to debut today for Maui
Eri Yoshida is scheduled to make her season debut today for Na Koa Ikaika Maui, the team announced Friday prior to a 3-0 win over the Shinano Grandserows at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.
Yoshida went 4-6 for Maui last year, believed to be the winningest season for a female pitcher in a North American professional baseball league.
On Friday, Na Koa’s Mike Williams (1-0) allowed four hits while striking out six batters in seven innings, and Zach Foster and Byron Minnich completed the five-hitter.
Maui’s Ray Serrano homered for the second consecutive day and scored two runs, while Waylen Sing-Chow went 2-4.
Polin Trinidad (0-1) of Shinano pitched an eight-inning compete game.
