Maui lifters earn Aloha Games honors
FIRST PHOTO: Kehau Deutsch of Upcountry Barbell Club (shown in photo) competes in the Aloha State Games weightlifting competition on June 15 at Ward Warehouse in Honolulu. Deutsch was named the event’s top female lifter, and Joseph Kauhaahaa of Queen Emma Athletic Club was named the top male. Deutsch had a snatch of 132 pounds and clean and jerk of 165, while Kauhaahaa had a snatch of 257 pounds and a clean and jerk of 341. Colten Britten-Kepani won a division title with lifts of 220 in the snatch and 301 in the clean and jerk. Kela Kauhaahaa had a personal-best lift of 121 pounds in the clean and jerk and was the top girls 13-and-under lifter. Cole Brittain and Colby Brittain shared first place in their class, and Hanale Kauhaahaa was second. Keoni Wong was also a class champion, Russell Kapuniai was second and Keaka Paleka fourth in their senior division class.
