Na Koa blasted by Pacifics, fall to 30-15 on year

The San Rafael Pacifics used an 11-run fifth inning to rout Na Koa Ikaika Maui 15-6 in a Pacific Association game on Friday at Maehara Stadium.

The first-place Pacifics (31-11) moved 2 1/2 games ahead of second-place Na Koa (30-15).

San Rafael had 11 hits, including Price Kendall’s grand slam, and sent 17 batters to the plate in the fifth.

Kevin Reinking finished with three runs and three RBIs for the Pacifics, who have won two of the first three games of the series.

Maui led 3-0 before San Rafael’s big inning.

Na Koa’s Mike Williams (6-1) allowed six runs in four innings. T.J. Macy replaced him and gave up five runs in two-thirds of an inning.

The Pacifics’ Bennett Whitmore (5-2) allowed five runs in seven innings.

The teams will play a doubleheader today starting at 1:30 p.m. The six-game series concludes with a game Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
