Na Koa lose to Pacifics in series opener, fall to 21-10
Na Koa Ikaika Maui dropped the first game of a crucial series against the San Rafael Pacifics 2-1 on Tuesday at San Rafael, Calif.
Na Koa (21-10) fell 2 1/2 games behind the Pacific (22-6) atop the Pacific Association standings.
Tyler Pearson (5-1) allowed six hits and one run in eight innings for the Pacifics. He walked one and struck out eight. Colin Allen pitched the final inning for his fourth save.
Chris Waters (0-2) allowed two unearned run in 7 1/3 innings of relief for Na Koa. Starter Eri Yoshida recorded only two outs.
In the third, San Rafael’s Danny Gonzalez drove in Derrick Hale with a single and Maikel Jova scored on the same play on an error by second baseman Kalaika Kahoohalahala.
Maui scored in the first on a ground out by Jeremy Williams.
