Na Koa score six runs in first, hold off Stars for 7-6 victory

Na Koa Ikaika Maui scored six runs in the first inning and then held on for a 7-6 victory over the Hawaii Stars on Thursday in a Pacific Association game at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Maui’s first seven batters reached base – the first three on walks by Onan Masaoka. Jimmy Rohan had an RBI single in the rally, and finished

3-for-4. Brandon Gregorich drove in two runs with a ground-rule double.

Mike Williams (7-1) allowed four runs – one earned – in seven innings for the win. Williams suffered his first loss of the season in his previous start against the San Rafael Pacifics.

Chris Mobley retired all four batters he faced for his eighth save of the year, and lowered his ERA to 0.62. He has permitted one run in 14 1/3 innings.

Masaoka (2-5) was charged with seven runs in 5 2/3 innings. He did not allow another walk after the initial three.
