Na Koa take twin bill from Admirals, improve to 21-9

Na Koa Ikaika Maui recorded 14 hits in each game of a Pacific Association doubleheader sweep against the Vallejo Admirals on Sunday at Vallejo, Calif.

The scores were 12-3 and 8-4.

Na Koa won the seven-inning first game behind Chema Sanchez and Kalaika Kahoohalahala, who each had two hits and three RBIs.

Maui’s Jeremy Williams batted 3-for-5 and Brandon Gregorich went 2-for-3 with three runs. Waylen Sing-Chow, Charlie Mirabal, Williams and Sanchez each scored twice, and Nick Valdez drove in two runs.

Matt Walker (3-1) allowed two runs on three hits over six innings for Na Koa. Byron Minnich pitched the final inning.

Colby Gurney (0-3) allowed six runs in one inning for the Admirals.

The second game was eight innings.

Sanchez batted 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Angus Roger homered for Na Koa. Roger and Mirabal each scored twice.

Chris Mobley (1-0) allowed one run over two innings for the victory.

Brennan Flick (0-2) allowed four runs over 1 2/3 innings for Vallejo.

Maui took four of six in the series.

Na Koa are 21-9, while the Admirals fell to 8-17.

Maui will next play a six-game series at the San Rafael Pacifics, Tuesday through Sunday. Na Koa is 1 1/2 games behind first-place San Rafael.
