Rao-Main receives martial arts honor at Las Vegas event

Reshmi Rao-Main, of Ohana Martial Arts in Kahului, received the International Martial Arts Competitor of the Year Award during the USA World Championships last month at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The competition was held June 21 to 23.

The Martial Arts Competitor of the Year Award is given to the individual who exemplifies the true spirit of martial arts and competes successfully in competitions. A panel of judges choose from nominated competitors.

Rao-Main, a 17-year-old senior at Maui High School, has a black belt. She is the fourth winner of the award.
