Baldwin girls improve to 6-0 in bowling

The Baldwin High School girls bowling team remained undefeated in Maui Interscholastic League play this year and took sole possession of first place with a 3-0 victory over Lahainaluna on Saturday at Maui Bowling Center in Wailuku.

The Bears also won their boys match 3-0.

The St. Anthony boys defeated Kamehameha Maui 2-1, and the Warriors beat the Trojans 3-0 in a forfeited girls match.

In girls competition, Kristen Espania-Kaeo had the high game, a 181, for Baldwin (6-0). Yu Sasaki had a 156 and Chaniya Silva a 151.

Alisha Coston-Chung had the top score for Lahainaluna (0-9), a 117, and Kailianne Tuipulotu had a 108.

Stuart Silva posted a 177 for the Bears in the boys match, and Justin Palafox had a 148. Baldwin improved to 5-1. The Lunas (0-9) got a 137 from Tyler Ihu, a 133 from Shawn Takahashi and a 111 from Michael Hogsett Jr.

Christian Altura-Taal had a 160 for the St. Anthony boys, who are now 5-1. Chaz Fernandez bowled a 150, and Noa Castleton had a 143.

Kamehameha had the top single game of the match, a 169 from Russell Nagamine. Avinash Singh added a 145 for the Warriors, and Justin Fernandez had a 131.

Destinee Murray (122) Michelle Nakashima (116) and Chrystal Cardoza (113) had the top scores for the Kamehameha girls team, which improved to 6-3. St. Anthony fell to 3-3.
