Na Koa claim league crown

Na Koa Ikaika Maui claimed the Pacific Association championship on Sunday in San Rafael, Calif., with a 6-1 victory over the San Rafael Pacifics, after defeating the Vallejo Admirals 8-3 earlier in the day.

Na Koa’s Jesse Smith allowed one run in seven innings in the title game, Brandon Gregorich hit a solo homer and Justin James drove in three runs.

Smith (7-3) permitted two hits, and Tucker Cordova pitched the final two innings to earn his first save.

Logan Odom (9-3) was the losing pitcher.

Chad Blackwell (9-4) pitched a complete game for Maui in the opener, with all three runs off of him unearned. He struck out seven batters.

Na Koa’s Vic Ferrante drove in three runs, and Angus Roeger scored three times.

Jeremiah Steinert (2-4) took the loss.
