Na Koa come up short on road

Na Koa Ikaika Maui lost 5-3 to the San Rafael Pacifics on Tuesday in a matchup of the Pacific Association’s top two teams at San Rafael, Calif.

The five-game series runs through Saturday.

Maui, the No. 2 seed for the upcoming playoffs, will play in the league semifinals on Sunday against either the Vallejo Admirals, Hawaii Stars or East Bay Lumberjacks.

The semifinal winner will play top-seeded San Rafael later Sunday for the title.

On Tuesday, Tucker Cordova (0-1) allowed four runs in five innings for Maui. Vic Ferrante hit a solo homer in the eighth.

San Rafael’s Kyle DeVore (8-3) allowed two runs – one earned – in six innings.
