Na Koa suffer first Wong Stadium loss

Na Koa Ikaika Maui fell behind by six runs early on the way to a 9-5 loss to the Hawaii Stars on Thursday in a Pacific Association game at Wong Stadium in Hilo.

Na Koa had been 7-0 on the Big Island this season.

Every player in Maui’s lineup reached base at least once. Ray Serrano had three hits.

The Stars’ Dallas Mahan (4-2) permitted two runs in six innings and earned the win.

Hawaii led 6-0 after three innings – Reggie Taylor and Katsuaki Furuki had back-to-back RBI doubles in the first.

Mike Williams (7-2) lost for the second time in three decisions, permitting six runs – three earned – in four innings. Na Koa third baseman Jimmy Rohan committed both of the team’s errors.
