Adolpho helps UH to sweep

Emily Hartong had 12 kills, Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had 10, with a .714 hitting percentage, and the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team beat Portland State 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 on Thursday, the opening day of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Adolpho had 14 attempts and no errors as the Rainbow Wahine (6-1), ranked 10th in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, won a fourth straight match. She also had six blocks while Hartong added 13 digs and Tai Manu-Olevao had seven kills.

Kamehameha Maui graduate Ginger Long had two kills for UH.

Kaeli Patton had nine kills for the Vikings (3-5), and Aubrey Mitchell had seven.

In the day’s first match, Arizona defeated Northwestern 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 25-19.

Northwestern and UH are to meet today.
