Hawaii topples Arizona in four sets
Emily Hartong had 21 kills and Molokai High School alumnus Kalei Adolpho added 14 as the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Arizona 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23 on the final day of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Challenge on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff?Center in Honolulu.
Adolpho hit .458 and had a team-high five blocks for Hawaii (8-1), which won the tournament with a 3-0 record. Teammate Ginger Long, a Kamehameha School Maui graduate, had one dig.
Hawaii, ranked 10th in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, has won six matches in a row.
The Rainbow Wahine’s Tai Manu-Olevao and Nikki Taylor each had 11 kills and Mita Uiato had 53 assists.
Uiato was named the tournament MVP and Adolpho and Hartong made the all-tournament team.
Madi Kingdon had 19 kills for Arizona (7-2 overall, 2-1 tournament).
In the day’s first match, Northwestern beat Portland State 25-17, 25-17, 25-13.
