No. 11 Rainbow Wahine sweep Miners, improve to 2-0
Emily Hartong had 14 kills, Nikki Taylor added 10 and the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team swept Texas-El Paso in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Saturday at the Stan?Sheriff?Center in Honolulu. The scores were 25-20, 25-15 and 25-10.
Hawaii’s Kalei Adolpho, a Molokai High School alumnus, had five kills and one block. Teammate Ginger Long, a Kamehameha Maui graduate, had three kills, two blocks and one dig.
Mita Uiato had 42 assists and Ali Longo had 15 digs for Hawaii (2-0), No. 11 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Talia Jones had nine kills for the Miners (0-3).
In earlier matches, top-ranked Texas won twice, beating UTEP 25-13, 25-19, 25-21, and San Diego 19-25, 25-18, 21-25, 30-28, 15-10.
