Cyr wins event in opening stage of Q-School

King Kekaulike High School graduate Sam Cyr finished first in his Tour qualifying tournament first-stage event on Friday, closing with a second consecutive 8-under-par 64 for a 266 total at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla.

Cyr finished six shots ahead of South Carolina’s Zack Byrd (67) and Florida’s T.J. Vogel (71), and was one of 33 players from the field to reach the second stage, which has six events scheduled for next month.

Approximately 156 players will earn spots in the six-round final, set for Dec. 12-17 in La Quinta, Calif., at which multiple levels of exemption are available for the Tour, one step below the PGA Tour.
