Hawaii loses second consecutive match for first time in four years
The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost a second straight match for the first time since 2009 on Saturday, falling 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 15-25, 15-9 to UC Davis in Davis, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine (16-4, 5-3 Big West) lost in five sets in a road match with Cal State-Northridge on Thursday.
Emily Hartong had 29 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, as well as 21 digs, for UH on Saturday. Tai Manu-Olevao added 14 kills.
Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had five kills for the Rainbow Wahine, who began the week ranked 10th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Mary Schroeder had 17 kills for the Aggies (12-9, 4-4), who had lost both of their previous matches against UH. Devon Damelio had 13 kills, and Valerie Brain had 12.
Hawaii will face UC Irvine at home Friday.
