Rainbow Wahine suffer first-ever loss to Matadors
The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team suffered its first-ever loss to Cal State Northridge on Thursday, falling 30-32, 28-26, 20-25, 25-22, 15-10 in Northridge, Calif.
Emily Harton had 25 kills for the Rainbow Wahine (16-3, 5-2 Big West), ranked eighth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Tai Manu-Olevao added 16 kills, and Nikki Taylor had 14.
Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had six kills for UH, which lost for the second time in three matches.
Casey Hinger had 16 kills for the Matadors (17-4, 7-1), who were facing the Rainbow Wahine for the 13th time. Cie-ana Stinson added 15 kills.
Northridge received 10 points in this week’s AVCA poll, the 30th-best total.
Hawaii is scheduled to play at UC Davis on Saturday.
