Team Primo places fifth in Molokai Hoe
Maui-based Team Primo placed fifth in Sunday’s Molokai Hoe.
Kai Bartlett, Aaron Creps, Kekoa Cramer, Will Reichenstein, Ryan Dolan, Tyson Kubo, Jacob Abeytia, Mael Carey and Felipe Gomes had a time of 5 hours, 16 minutes, 56 seconds in the approximately 41-mile race across the Kaiwi Channel, which is considered the world championship of men’s paddling.
Shell Va’a of Tahiti won for the eighth straight time, paddling from Molokai’s Hale O Lono Harbor to Waikiki on Oahu in 4:53:35.
The top Hawaii finisher was Mellow Johnny’s of the Big Island, fourth in 5:09:31. Maui’s Na Kai Ewalu / Rising Sun finished 17th in 5:41:06.
Wailea was 29th in 5:51:38, and the Wailea 40 team was 31st in 5:54:05, placing fifth in its age division.
