Trotto part of silver-medal 400 relay team
Mary Trotto of Kihei was part of the second-place 400-meter relay team in the women’s 65 division at the World Masters Track and Field Championships that took place in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from Oct. 16 through Sunday.
The U.S. team of Trotto, Patti Renfro of Pennsylvania, Lorraine Tucker of California and Phil Raschker of Georgia had a time of 1 minute, 9.33 seconds. Germany won the event in 1:07.36.
Trotto, Renfro, Raschker and Georgia’s Jeanne Daprano were fourth in the 1,600 relay in 6:36.00.
Individually, Trotto placed third in the pole vault, clearing 1 meter.
She also had the top javelin throw among heptathlon competitors, 17.50 meters, on the way to a fifth-place overall finish with 2,185 points. Trotto had the third-best heptathlon shot put, 6.31 meters.
Trotto placed fifth in the steeplechase as well, with a time of 14:01.89.
