UC Santa Barbara ends UH’s 13-match winning streak

Katey Thompson finished with 19 kills and 11 blocks as UC Santa Barbara ended Hawaii’s 13-match winning streak with a five-set victory on Friday at the Stan Sheriff?Center in Honolulu. The scores were 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 22-25 and 15-12.

Emily Hartong had 20 kills for Hawaii, ranked fifth by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Kalei Adolpho, a Molokai High School alumnus, had seven kills, six blocks and five digs for the Rainbow?Wahine (15-2, 4-1 Big West). Ginger Long, a Kamehameha Maui graduate, had one ace.

Mita Uiato had 44 assists and Ali Longo finished with 18 digs for Hawaii, which hosts Cal Poly today.

Ali Spindt had 12 kills and 17 digs and Ali Barbeau added 10 kills for the Gauchos (8-8, 3-1). Hanna Nielson finished with 27 assists and Leah Sully had 22 digs.
