Cabe breaks own deadlift records

Liz Cabe was named the outstanding female lightweight competitor in the open and master divisions at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters world champion-ships that took place Nov. 5-10 at the Peppermill Resort Hotel in Reno, Nev., after winning deadlift titles at 97 pounds in each division, and two other Maui lifters combined to win three more titles.

Cabe’s lift of 339.3 pounds broke her own WABDL records and made her the second woman in the organization’s history to lift more than 3 1/2 times her body weight.

Llumel Magana won the teen male 181 bench press by putting up 435 pounds, and was the deadlift winner with a 535-pound effort. Colleen Loo won her first open deadlift title, pulling 319 pounds.

Vijay Maulit was the junior men’s bench press runner-up (473) and took third in the deadlift (501).
