Cyr tied for 30th, nine shots back at event

King Kekaulike High School graduate Sam Cyr moved into a tie for 30th place on Thursday in the third round of a Tour second-stage qualifying event.

Cyr, a two-time NAIA champion at Point Loma Nazarene, carded a 2-under-par 72 for a 2-under total of 216 at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, Calif.

The top 20 players and ties will advance to next month’s six-round final stage. Five players were tied for 19th at 214.

Canada’s Eugene Wong (69) and Arizona’s Jake Younan-Wise were tied for the lead at 207.
