Palafox places 13th in state, claims top game

Janiesse Palafox of Baldwin High School finished 13th in girls competition in the Billy Tees State Bowling Championships at Hickam Bowling Center on Oahu on Friday.

Palafox closed with games of 177, 151 and 148 for a 1,541 total. Chelsi Morishige of Pearl City won with a 1,747.

Palafox finished with the tournament’s top game, a 231 on Thursday.

Kristen Espania-Kaeo (1,351) took 45th, and Baldwin placed eighth as a team with a 6,210 total. Pearl City won a third straight team title with a 7,790.

In the boys division, Trent Hori of Maui High took 23rd with a 1,597. Nicholas Azumi won with a 1,905 to help Pearl City claim its fourth team title in a row with an 8,748.

Brendan Baker’s 1,550 left him in 36th place, and Maui High (6,888) finished eighth as a team.
