Victorino’s beard to come off as part of Gillette promotion
BOSTON (AP) – The beards are coming off for World Series MVP David Ortiz and Boston Red Sox teammate Shane Victorino, a St. Anthony High School graduate.
The two players will shave Monday, along with suddenly famous Fenway Park bullpen policeman Steve Horgan and a fan chosen by social media during a “shave-off” promotion at Gillette headquarters in Boston.
The Red Sox players’ beards became a symbol of their solidarity as they won this year’s World Series, clinching the crown Wednesday.
Horgan became a fixture in Boston after he was photographed with his arms in the air celebrating Ortiz’s grand slam in the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers.
