Lucas’ three goals help Sabers win league opener

Tiana Lucas scored three goals as the Maui High School girls soccer team began its Maui Interscholastic League schedule with a 5-1 victory over Lahaina-luna on Tuesday at the Lahaina Youth Center.

Mary-lyn Johannes had a goal and three assists for the Sabers.

Lucas scored twice in the first half, both times off assists from Johannes, and once in the second, with an assist from Cassie Arakawa.

Lucas also assisted on Johannes’ second-half goal, and Kylie Cortez scored on a penalty kick in the first half.

The goal-scorer for the Lunas (0-2) was not available.

At Pukalani, Nikki Musto had two goals and two assists as King Kekaulike improved to 2-0.

Musto scored off passes from Tanisha Imonti and Tiare Matsuura, and assisted on goals by Kayla Santiago and Mahina DePonte.

Leealoha Amor scored off a Santiago assist.

St. Anthony was playing its MIL opener.
