Otani scores twice, assists on three goals as Bears defeat Sabers

Jaren Otani had a hand in each of Baldwin High School’s first five goals – scoring the initial two, then assisting on the next three – during a 7-0 win over Maui High on Friday in a Maui Interscholastic League boys soccer match at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku.

Otani scored on assists by Nash Wuthrich and Korey Kuge, then assisted on goals by Nick Lawrence, Matthew Foronda and Ryan Feliciano. Lawrence assisted on a goal by Derek Hight, and Isai Zarbosa capped the scoring with an unassisted goal.

The Bears (3-0-1) entered a tie with Kamehameha Maui for second place in the MIL Division I standings.

The Sabers fell to 0-4-0.
