Rainbow Warriors in Diamond Head fifth-place game

Christian Standhardinger hit a jump shot with two seconds remaining and finished with 22 points as the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team defeated St. Mary’s (Calif.) 76-74 on Monday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, advancing to the Diamond Head Classic fifth-place game.

A basket by the Gaels’ Beau Levesque with 31 seconds to go had tied the score, capping a 9-4 run.

Isaac Fotu scored 13 points for UH (8-3), which will play Oregon State on Wednesday.

The Rainbow Warriors’ Brandon Spearman scored 12 points, and Aaron Valdez had 10. Standhardinger had nine rebounds and four steals.

Brad Waldow scored 17 points for St. Mary’s (9-2).
