Smyczek, Klahn win at Royal Lahaina Challenger
Second-seeded Tim Smyczek and third-seeded Bradley Klahn both won straight-set matches during the first round of the Royal Lahaina Challenger’s main draw on Tuesday at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch.
Smyczek of the United States beat Japan’s Hiroki Moriya 6-2, 6-4. Klahn, also of the U.S., defeated Petr Michnev of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-6(3).
American Jack Sock, the No. 4 seed, retired during the second set of his match against Taipei’s Tsung-Hua Yang. Yang led 6-4, 2-1 at the time.
Americans Daniel Kosa-kowski and Jared Donaldson as well as Taipei’s Chieh-Fu Wang won singles quailfying matches on Tuesday.
